Who We Work With

NPA works with a wide range of government departments and non-government conservation organisations in NSW and across Australia. In particular, NPA NSW has close relationships with the Australia-wide network of National Parks Associations, and with other key NSW environment groups in the Environment Liaison Office.
  • Environment Liaison Office

The Environment Liaison Office (ELO) provides a link to NSW Parliament for hundreds of community groups across NSW. It aims to ensure that the shared concerns and priorities of environment groups are communicated consistently to Government, and provides a mechanism for the views of Government to be communicated to and considered by NSW environment groups. NPA is one of a number of core organisations that participate in regular ELO meetings and joint projects. Other core members of the ELO are listed below.

  • Other NPAs

Many other Australian states also have National Parks Associations. NPA NSW works closely with these Associations on matters of common interest, and is a member of the overarching National Parks Australia Council.

  • Government Departments

NPA works closely with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, particularly on issues affecting national park management and reserve creation. We also work with relevant State and Federal environment departments.

  • Our Allies

NPA also works on conservation projects with a range of other groups, organisations and people.

  • Better Planning Network

The Better Planning Network (BPN) is a volunteer-based organisation founded by community groups concerned about the NSW Government's planning reforms. NPA has joined with other leading non-government organisations and community groups including BPN to produce the 'Community Charter for Good Planning'. The document sets a community vision, key principles and desired outcomes for planning in NSW. The Charter has been developed for use by a wide range of groups and individuals in the lead-up to the 2015 NSW State Election, to put the need for good planning on the agenda of electors and candidates.

You can join NPA by endorsing the Charter yourself at http://thecommunitycharter.org/the-community-charter-2/
