A couple of weeks ago, I had a phone message from the ABC Canberra, concerning 4WD damage at Dubbo Flats. I groaned. How did the ABC find me when the issue wasn’t even horses? For goodness sake I didn’t want to be the font of all knowledge on all high impact activities in Kosciuszko National Park.

There is a very good reason that large dams have not been built in NSW for the last 30 years. Dams, by their very nature, have devastating impacts on the natural environment. Inundation of protected areas, water starvation of downstream ecosystems and cold-water pollution of waterways are just some of the many environmental impacts dams have.

Reprieve for Royal National Park for now as Government reserves commitment on F6 stage 4

In what appears to be a pragmatic response to community pressure, the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday reported[1] that the NSW Government has not committed to stage 4 of the F6 motorway which would have resulted in 60 ha of Royal National Park being bulldozed.

Labor pledges to protect the Royal National Park
