Conservation leaders urge Premier to protect Kosciuszko Nation Park from commercial over-development

Some of the state’s leading conservationists, ecologists and former national parks managers are “imploring” Premier Gladys Berejiklian to “set aside disastrous plans” to significantly increase commercial development of Kosciuszko National Park.

It is hard to imagine a current government purchasing most of an historic town, with live-in residents, and transferring it to the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). The foresight of doing so in 1967 to protect heritage values and to add a new reserve to the historic site category was courageous and commendable.

Plans of management (plans) for reserves managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) set out what can be done within reserves. It is a requirement of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 that a plan be prepared for each reserve.

The draft plan is publicly exhibited and submissions are sought on it. This is where you come in!!!!
