Labor’s commitment to ‘dedicate’ Crown Land will increase security and lower the risk of sell-offs and inappropriate use
The National Parks Association of NSW Inc (NPA) is welcoming Shadow Primary Industries Minister Mick Veitch’s announcement to ‘dedicate’ Crown Land, and calls on the Coalition to match the commitment.

The controlled movement of stock across Australia via a “veritable maze”[1] of public stock routes is a uniquely Australian phenomenon. This “maze” is particularly evident in NSW where some droving continues. What remains of the Travelling Stock Routes and Reserves network (TSR network) in NSW[2] is a valuable public asset that must be preserved. Its enduring protection has been an important aspect of NPA’s 60 years of conservation advocacy work.
A public consultation paper on the future use/conservation of NSW’s Travelling Stock Reserves is on exhibition until 7 July 2017. The exhibition includes the consultation paper, with more information and on line map available at http://open.lls.nsw.gov.au/TSR-review
