30 eminent Australian energy, engineering, economic and environmental experts have called on the Prime Minister and NSW Premier to delay final approval of the Snowy 2.0 pumped storage project until there has been a comprehensive independent review.
The National Parks Association of NSW today released a comprehensive research paper that found all of the claimed benefits of the Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro storage project to be overstated or false.
Scientific experts have warned that if the massive Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro
development goes ahead it will spread noxious pests, weeds and diseases
throughout the alpine river system and downstream, causing catastrophic damage to aquatic environments, commercial fish farms and recreational fishing.
Growing opposition to the unacceptable environmental impact, immense cost and dubious community benefits of the Snowy 2.0 project is proven by the recently released public submissions on the Main Works Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)[1].
The National Parks Association of NSW (NPA) welcomes the commitment by the NSW Environment Minister, Matt Kean MP to protect the native wildlife that has survived the devastating fires of this summer through the humane control of feral predators and competitors.
