The Underfrog
Give today to help the production of a film, “The Underfrog” highlighting the problem of brumbies in Kosciusko NP. The film will demonstrate the negative impact of brumbies (feral horses) to the ecology of the Australian Alps. “The Underfrog” refers to the Corroboree Frog, a critically endangered species and why this feral horse protection bill is a grave piece of legislation.
Activities
Walks are held every second month and are generally of easy to medium grade. The walks are well attended and are easy going affairs! We try to accommodate all ages and abilities in our planning.
Overnight field trips are organised from time to time and have included stays at places like Green Cape Lighthouse and Yarrangobilly Caves. These excursions generally fill quite quickly.
Meetings
The branch’s last AGM was held on Saturday, 12 April 2016.
Campaigns
Great Southern Forest Campaign
The Great Southern Forest (GSF) campaign, spearheaded by NPA’s Far South Coast Branch, aims to ensure the future of the koala and other forest dwellers by reconnecting and protected the forests of south east NSW. The new approach to forest management involves ending native forest logging, planning a transition away from the loss-making woodchipping sector, and using carbon funding to create regional jobs in tourism, wildlife protection and forest management.
